3rd leg of Philippine autocross series

-

CEBU, Philippines - Cebuano racing enthusiasts will once again witness fast-paced and high-octane action with the staging of the 3rd leg of the Philippine Autocross Championship Series this weekend at the Parkmall. The event was formally launced in a news conference presided over by race organizers Niel Labrador and Jong Uy yesterday at Pier One Restaurant-Parkmall.

Topnotch racers from DGL Motorports led by speed demon David G. Lim and the QQ/Chery-sponsored Team No Care Racing (NCR) are expected to further heat up their rivalry even though the likes of Jess Garcia and Justin Neri of KARTZONE, Randy Paray and Ervin Go of ACR may very well steal the show from them.

Lim currently leads the race for the coveted “Driver of the Year” trophy with 16 points after two legs, so far. Breathing down his neck is Jong King of Team NCR with 11 points followed by Mato Tan and Justin Neri with eight points apiece.

Randy Paray is at fifth with 6 points, while rounding up the temporary top 14 drivers are David Lim, Jr., Blake Go, Peterson Lim, Philip Khan “Lik-Lik” Lim, Jess Garcia, Louie Blanco, Jed Neri, Peter Cinco, and Ervin Go.

“We are here to race, to have fun and of course win,” said Jong King of Team NCR, who will be behind the wheels of Subaru Imprezza GC8.

The rest of the Team NCR members are Philip Khan Lim (Honda Jazz, Gt Turbo Starlet EP82), Alan “Big Al” G. Choachuy (Mitsubishi Eclipse 2nd generation), Robert “Bobby” Pangilinan (Toyota MR2, EK4 Honda), Eric Khe (AE92 Toyota Small Body), Anthony Khe (AE101 Toyota Big Body), Norris See (Mitsubishi Eclipse 1st Generation), Dennis Corro (KP61 Toyota Starlet Old School), Jhonel Abello (Mazda RX7), Antonio Almario (KP61 Toyota Starlet Old School), and Bernard Chua (Mitsubishi Eclipse 2nd Generation).

The categories to be contested include the novice stock A and C, novice modified A, B, and C, experienced modified A, B, and C, Open A, B, and C, all-BMW, old school, all-wheel drive, sports car, Papa Joe’s, rear wheel drive, and automatic transmission.

Labrador, meanwhile, said that practice is not allowed in the final race course under the spirit of fair play for out-of-town participants who are yet to arrive on Saturday evening. – EBV (THE FREEMAN)
