CEBU, Philippines – The Cebu City National Darts Open, the biggest darts tournament in Cebu since 2004 that offers a total of P100,000 in cash prize, wil unfold today at the Baseline Sports and Recreation Center.
Some of the country’s top-ranked darters as well as veteran and upcoming players will showcase their wares with hopes of clearing their targets with pin-point accuracy.
Among the big names who will take part in the three-day tilt include Ian Perez, Boie Parfan, Lawrence Ilagan, Gale Boy Giongson, Jojo Barellano, Bert Lozano and Arvy Briones.
Cagayan de Oro, Davao, Agusan, Butuan, Aklan, Iloilo , Bacolod, San Carlos City , Cotabato, Pasay , Navotas, Cainta, and Tanjay also fielding in their best bets.Of course, they are expected to face tough opposition from Cebu’s top guns in the sport such as Roy Laude, Itong Badayos, Jerous Ponce,Winnie Ocanada, Lando Cadorna, Molet Patunob, Noli Aporado, Jet Ouano and CHEDA’s main man Bert Colong.
Today’s action starts at 4 pm with the open-draw doubles wherein the rated and non-rated players are drawn separately to ensure a balanced competition.
The fixed four-man team and classified triples will be contested tomorrow, hopefully in the presence of Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña, vice mayor Mike Rama, and councilor Jack Jakosalem.
The final day will feature the youth singles, the Mayor and Vice Mayor Cup-Open singles, and the CHEDA-Open doubles.
Sanctioned by the National Darts Federation of the Philippines (NDFP), the event is spondored by the city government of Cebu in association with Robson and Razor, Nature’s Spring, Island Souvenirs, Baseline Restaurant, and San Miguel Corporation.
Aside from cash prizes, the top performers will also earn points for their NDFP rankings. – THE FREEMAN
