Young Builders grab CECABA Division I title

CEBU, Philippines – The Young Builders ’91 upended Shell ’78/85, 70-63, in the rubbermatch of their best-of-three finals series to clinch the Division I title of the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association’s 11th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup last Sunday at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.

Class ’91 proved more determined and hungrier to snatch the coveted championship as it never looked back since jumping off to a sizzling 20-12 start. The Young Builders-backed squad further kept Class ’78/85 at bay with a 51-41 edge going into the final 10 minutes of the contest.

Chester Benedict Go paced Class ’91 this time with 19 points, while Juan Borromeo, Jr. banged in 15 markers. Kevin Co donated 20.

Wilson Yu had 16 points for Class ’78/85 followed by Edvin Kaw with 15. Joel Chan had 11, while Chester Cokaliong scored 10 in a losing effort.
