Cebuano players shine in Agusan darts

CEBU, Philippines – The Cebu City Hall Employees Darts Association (CHEDA) Niños took home a champion’s trophy plus three runnerup finishes in the 2009 Governor Erlpe John Amante Cup 2009 National Open darts tournament in Cabadbaran, Agusan del Norte the other day.

From a topsy-turvy showing in the fixed four-man team competition, the Cebuanos bounced back with a one-two finish in the classified doubles.

Odong Pamatian and Laurence Ilagan defeated fellow Cebuano Reyden Colina and Dodoy Tomolong of Cagayan de Oro in the final, 4-2.

Another Cebuano player in Jerous Ponce, who saw action in the classified three-man event with Bernard Cameleo and July Moralde, placed second behind the team of Charlie Jamolin, Henry Rivera and Dapal dela Victoria.

Cebu’s top bet Roy Laude earlier snatched a silver medal from the singles open competed by 121 darters from all over the country. Laude lost to Baguio’s Arvy Briones in the final battle. – Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (THE FREEMAN)
