Nanet's Chicharon wins title in Riverside cagefest
CEBU, Philippines - Nanet’s Chicharon fended off Marco & Nichole, 87-79, in their sudden-death final match to clinch the juniors division championship of the Riverside Fiesta Basketball League in Poblacion Oriental, Consolacion.
Lemuel Malagar topscored for Nanet’s Chicharon of team owner and barangay councilor Nanet Lagahit with a game-high 33 points.
The tournament was made possible through the support of Poblacion Oriental Brgy. Captain Melquades Caylan and councilors Nelita Gerunjo, Vic Lagahit, Doldo Sanchez, Eva Malagar, and Arturo Medina.
The league was organized by Paul Alelu Q. Flores, a former star guard of the Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws during his UAAP days. The games were supervised by commissioner Norbert Cejas.
