CEBU, Philippines - Over a thousand runners and cyclists are expected to see action in the 1st Cebu City Run and Bike for Freedom tomorrow at the South Reclamation Properties.
City Councilor Raul “Yayoy” D. Alcoseba, who is fully supporting the event, hopes that everyone will have fun as this marks for the first time that such activity is being held here in the Queen City of the South.
Aside from promoting a healthy lifestyle and spotlighting the Independence Day celebration, the Cebu City Sports Commission also wants to showcase SRP as a venue for running and mountainbiking.
More than P200,000 in cash prize is stake for the top 15 finishers in the 5K and 10K run and the top 20 in the mountainbike and racer events.
The champions in the 10K run will receive P10,000 each, while the top winners in the 5K race will both take home P7,000.
Entry fee is pegged at P200 inclusive of a singlet for the first 600 registrants. Registration is now going on at the Cebu City Sports Center. Those who are interested to join could still enlist in the morning of the race day.
Proceeds of the event will go to the young and poor boxers training at the CCSC and the Tsinelas Foundation. – Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (THE FREEMAN)
