CEBU, Philippines – Another history in Cebu boxing unfolds today as three World Boxing Organization (WBO) regional title fights will take place at the Cebu Coliseum. Showtime begins at 5 pm.
Ramie Laput and Johnreil Casimiro are all set to defend their crowns against dangerous challengers, while Marvin “Marvelous” Sonsona takes a shot at WBO championship glory at a regional level.
Ramie Laput (37-3, 20KOs) will risk his WBO Inter-Continental junior featherweight title on the line against former world champion Ratanachai Sor Vorapin (74-11, 49KOs) of Thailand, while Casimiro will defend his WBO Asia-Pacific light flyweight belt against compatriot Arden Diale of Dante Almario Stable.
Sonsona (12-0, 11KOs), for his part, will stake his unbeaten record as he shoots for the WBO Oriental flyweight diadem against erstwhile two-time world title-holder Wandee Singwancha of Thailand.
In a pair of exciting bouts that are capable of stealing the spotlight from the triple main event, the vaunted knockout artist Anthony “Rocky” Marcial (14-0, 13KOs) will trade bombs with Jack de Asis, while ex-WBO Asia-Pacific champion Jason Egera will mix it up with another Thai visitor Pramunsak Phosuwan.
