CEBU, Philippines – The 1st M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala basketball tournament shifts action this weekend in barangays Labangon and Talamban.
Today at the Labangon Sports Complex, the CSC Power Brokers hope to keep their semifinal hopes alive when they take on the Salazar Colleges of Science and Institute of Technology (SCSIT) Skyblazers in the first game at 7 pm, right before the main tussle between Binglens and the Asian College of Technology (ACT) Cyber Knights at 8:30 pm.
The CSD Power Brokers are heavily favored against the collegiate standouts of SCSIT owing to the slew of commercial veterans in their fold such as Aldrin Ocañada, Franklin Nailon and Jerry Jaca.
The same with Binglens, who boast of ex-pro Max Delantes and bull-strong forward Jessie Lumantas.
Tomorrow at the Talamban Sports Complex, the Ave Maria Sanctuary Park-USJR Jaguars shoot for their sixth straight victory in as many games when they battle the ACT Cyber Knights in the main match at 8:30pm.
In the curtain-raiser, the slumping Perfect Freight will go up against the Mark Abadia-led 24/7 Convenience Store.
Organized by M. Lhuillier through its marketing representative Mike Roma, the tournament dangles P50,000 to the champion. The second will pocket P30,000, while the second and third will receive P15,000 and P5,000, respectively. —EBV (THE FREEMAN)
