Tuburan rules PJ Cup hoopla
CEBU, Philippines – Tuburan pulled off a 60-59 squeaker over Balamban in the knockout Game 3 of their finals showdown to rule the 1st Congressman “PJ” Cup 3rd District Inter-Barangay Captain Basketball League recently at its home turf.
In the battle for third, Asturias demolished Barili, 64-49.
Tuburan, thus, claimed P100,000 in cash prize and another P100,000 worth of projects. Balamban received P50,000, while Asturias got P30,000.
The awarding ceremony, which was held on the occasion of Rep. Pablo Jon Garcia’s 42nd birthday recently at the Capitol Social Hall, was graced by Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia and multi-titled TV actor and celebrity endorser Christopher “Boyet” de Leon.
Four teams which did not make it to the top three - Barili, Toledo City, Pinamungajan and Aloguinsan - got a consolation prize of P30,00 each.
