SWU Cobras forge rubbermatch vs. CSD Builders in Toledo hoop

-

CEBU, Philippines - The Southwestern University (SWU) Cobras unloaded a devastating 18-2 bomb in the first quarter to blow off the CCC-CSD Builders, 90-76, and forge a rubbermatch in their best-of-three finals series in the 1st Vice Mayor Rudy Espinosa Cup last Tuesday at the Barba Sports Complex in Toledo City.

SWU’s top playmaker Aard Diango paid little respect to his CSD counterpart Raul Redulosa on the way to topscore the Cobras with 22 points. In sharp contrast, Redulosa laid a big fat egg in nearly 40 minutes of unproductive stint on the floor.

Compounding the Builders’ woes was the absence of back-up pointguard Michael Sereño.

Chris Litorja and Eleazar Armecin have had an excellent field goal shooting to compliment Diango’s explosive performance. Litorja finished with 16 points, while Armecin and big man Gilbert Gallarde donated 13 markers apiece.

Gallarde also dominated the rebounding department despite the presence of CSD towers in

Franklin Nailon and Danny de los Santos.

Sherwin Abobo led the Builders with 19 points, while Nailon added 15. Jared Kane Abatayo and Jerry Jaca connived for 24 points in a losing effort.

Earlier, the CSD Staff defeated the Black Blows, 102-89, to win the Inter-Ballclub crown.

The scores

SWU (90) - Diango 22, Litorja 16, Armecin 13, Gallarde 13, Pria 10, Pacquaio 8, Jalandoni 4, Divinagracia 2, Caytona 2

CCC-CSD (76) - Abobo 10, Nailon 15, Abatayo 13, Jaca 11, Delos Santos 7, Ocañada 7, Mangyao 2, Sayson 2. - GGM (THE FREEMAN)
