Builders march into finals of Rudy Espinosa hoopla

CEBU, Philippines - The CCC-CSD Builders of coach Boboy Cal completed a two-game sweep of the Ave Maria Sanctuary Park/USJ-R Jaguars, 102-90, to set up a championship showdown with the Southwestern University (SWU) Cobras in the 1st Vice Mayor Rudy Espinosa Cup at the Barba Sports Center in Toledo City.

Game 1 of the best-of-three finals series will be played tomorrow as well as the third place battle between Ave Maria and the Asian College of Technology (ACT) Cyber Knights.

Explosive playmaker Jared Kane Abatayo and bull-strong forward Jerry Jaca topscored for the Builders with 17 points apiece.

Sherwin Abobo also shone brightly for the Builders with 15 points followed by Aldrin Ocañada and Franklin Nailon with 13 and 11 markers, respectively.

Veteran pointguard Raul Redulosa chipped in 10 points underscoring the Builders balanced offensive.

Archie Antigua topscored with 19 points for the Jaguars, who were hit hard by the absence of Michael Luga. Bobby Hatague netted 16 points for Ave Maria, which suffered a huge collapse after taking a nine-point advantage at halftime, 52-43.

In the Inter-Ballclub, the TSBE Boomers demolished the CCC Staff, 86-66.
