CEBU, Philippines - Barangay Lahug under the flagship of lady chief executive Mary Ann de los Santos will be holding the “Running MAD for Wellness” on May 24 starting at the University of the Philippines Visayas-Cebu College grounds.
“The barangay officials and staff of Lahug believe that a holistic approach to good governance begins with the welfare of the people by looking into their biopsychosocial and spiritual need,” said De los Santos in a statement.
The event was formally launched yesterday at the Lahug barangay hall. On hand to grace the affair were De los Santos, Sportswriters Association of Cebu (SAC) president John Z. Pages, race coordinator and The Freeman sports columnist Raffy R. Uytiepo, and former Tinago Brgy. Capt. Joel Garganera.
The Running MAD for Wellness is also known as the body, mind and spirit run for a bigger, better and brighter Lahug.
The race features three categories: 3K, 6K and 12K. It is open to fun runners, beginners, seasoned and competitive footracers as well.
In staging the event, De los Santos aims to drum up the interest of the Cebuanos on wellness and physical fitness through running. – EBV (THE FREEMAN)
