Ave Maria SP scores 3-0 sweep in Espinosa Cup
CEBU, Philippines - The Ave Maria Sanctuary Park/USJ-R Jaguars disarmed the Asian College of Technology (ACT) Cyber Knights, 80-69, to complete an elimiation round sweep in the 1st Vice Mayor Rudy Espinosa Cup at the Barba Sports Complex in Toledo City.
The Jaguars topped Group A with an immaculate 3-0 record and will play in the crossover semifinals either against Group B leader CCC-CSD Builders or the Southwestern University (SWU) Cobras.
Armand Ponce and Michael Luga carried the offensive load for Ave Maria with 20 and 19 points, respectively. Luga is the only non-USJR player to be included in the team. Archie Antigua added 12 points for Ave Maria.
Dondon Nuñez topscored for the Cyber Knights with 18 points, while Cyril Pontemayor chipped in 15 markers.
In the Inter-Ballclub category, TSBA escaped with a 100-99 victory over Blank Blue.
