Builders dominate Toledo cagefest

CEBU, Philippines – The CCC-CSD Builders notched its second straight victory after beating unpredictable A&C Sports 91-81 in the ongoing 1st Vice-Mayor Rudy Espinoso Cup at the Barba Sports Center in Toledo City.

With the Builders first round victory over C&B Shipping, the team is now leading Group B with a 2-0 slate.

Grizzled veteran Jerry Jaca carried the Builders all game long and peppered A&C Sports with 28 points. Aldrin Ocañada chipped in 16 points and Abatayo with 11 points.

Ricky Labajo topscored for the A&C Sports with 32 points with former CIT Wildcat Leo Dale Caparas added 10 points.

The Builders will play Southwestern University (SWU) next. Win or lose, the team will earn a semifinal slot.

The Cobras are still in Butuan City playing the University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters in the finals of the National Students Basketball Championships (NSBC).

In the first game, the CSD Power Builders escaped with an 86-85 victory over the Toledo-based TSBA quintet.
