Cebu's Navaja is PRISAA's fastest man
CEBU, Philippines – Cebuano Lindley Fran Navaja may just be a new face in the 2009 Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) National Games but his presence was highly felt after he emerged as the fastest man in this collegiate meet in Naga City.
Navaja showed the older and veteran sprinters why he was named as the best trackster in last year’s Palarong Pambansa in Palawan after pulling away the gold in the century dash in his PRISAA debut. He clocked in 10.78 seconds.
Navaja could not ask for more when he saw his teammate Anthony Santillan finishing third in 11.08 seconds. Navaja also powered Central Visayas to a golden finish in the 4 X 100m relay alongside Santillan, Dharl Pitogo, and Jorge Pinanong.
Love Joy Intong got bronze in the women’s division with the time of 12.98 seconds.
Two other tracksters contributed a medal each for PRISAA-7 in Angelica Lado and Joy Tabal.
Lado bagged a silver medal in the discus throw with a distance of 26.57 meters, while Tabal picked up a bronze in the women’s 400m run.
At the pool, Menguito continued to sizzle as she captured her second gold through the 100m butterfly event. She also had a silver in the 100m freestyle.
Rowan Fernandez also made some ripples following a bronze finish in the 1,500 freestyle competition.
Overall, PRISAA-7 now has a total of four golds, four silvers and five bronzes in an unofficial medal tally as of press time.
