Blue Angels, Korea triumph in 1st Fastball Softball event

CEBU, Philippines -  Sister teams Blue Angels and Blue Panthers suffered contrasting fates at the start of the 1st Fastball Softball Tournament at the Aboitiz Sports Field in Mandaue City.

The Blue Angels and Blue Panthers are a group of individuals united together to form a team for the event by Fastball owner Jesse Bernad.

The Blue Angels only needed five innings to grab their first win at the expense of the Knights, 16-4.

Both squads posted three runs in the first inning, but went scoreless in the next canto.

However, the Blue Angels suddenly pulled away with a total of 13 runs in the next three innings including a homerun from Raymund Salazar. They held off the Knights to a single run under the third inning.

With 16 runs at the end of the fifth inning against only four for the Knights, the game was called quits via mercy rule.

In contrast, the Blue Panthers fell prey to the Korea in the event supported by Alaska Milk and Phiten. — Caecent No-ot Magsumbol   (THE FREEMAN)
