Cebu tankers gear up for G-League swimfest
CEBU, Philippines - Some of Cebu’s best young swimmers are ready to defend their turf when they compete in the G-League Swim Meet Series-Cebu leg at the Cebu City Sports Center today.
The Cebuanos, mainly from the Cebu Blue Marlin Club and other PASA member local clubs, face off with the best tankers from Bohol, Dumaguete City and Negros Oriental.
The swimmers will be competing in 11 age brackets - 7, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12,13, 14, 15, 16, 17 – for both boys and girls.
The Cebu leg is part of the nationwide G-League Series sanctioned by the Philippine Amateur Swimming Association (PASA) covering five areas of the country. Area 1 covers Central and Northern Luzon-CAR, Area 2 is Bicol and Southern Tagalog, Area 3 has NCR, Area 4 is for Visayas and Area 5 for Mindanao.
The Freeman learned that a meet in Roxas City, Capiz last month was the kickoff for Visayas competitions. After Cebu, the series goes to Negros Oriental on May 16 followed by a meet in Antique on June 23.
