Juanito Uy scores net 57 in first day of UBS golf
CEBU, Philippines - Seventy-five year old Juanito Uy scored the reverse of his age yesterday to post the day’s best score in the start of the 11th UBS Golf Tournament at the Cebu Country Club.
Uy paces the seniors’ (60 years old and above) category. He scored a gross 84.
running second in the group is Wellington Lim with a net score of 62 while Douglas Gacasan runs third with 65.
The rest of the field are set to play today in this tournament backed by international banking giant UBS.
Pacing class A is Carl Almario with a net score of 66 strokes off a gross three-under-par 69. Also submitting a net score of 66 was Nonoy Tirol off a gross 75.
Ramon Sebastian, Kento Nakada, and Eric Deen are lumped at third spot with net scores of 68 strokes.
In class B, Joji Tatara set the pace shooting a net score of 68 followed by Titing Gamallo with 69 and the duo of David Lu and Nestor Mendoza with 70 apiece.
Jose Suaco leads class C with a net score of 62 strokes. Joseph Yu is at second with 65 while Johnny Go and Takaharu Imai each scored 66 strokes.
Antonio Dy scored a net 71 to lead class D while Hyman Yap turned in a net 79. – NLQ (THE FREEMAN)
