Pajo belles place third in Shakey's V-League National Finals

-

CEBU, Philippines - The gritty Pajo National High School belles snatched the third place honors after trouncing Passi NHS of Iloilo in the 4th Shakey’s Girls Volleyball League National Finals at the University of St. La Salle (USLS) Coliseum in Bacolod City.

The Fr. Ronaldo T. Manayon–mentored Pajo National High School pummeled Passiin straight sets, 25-9, 25-21, 25-22 for the bronze finish.

The reigning Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVIRAA) champion failed to advance into the championship round after dropping two games against host USLS-Bacolod and University of Sto . Tomas (UST).

“The girls had a great game in our first inclusion in the Shakey’s V-League. I believe that the tournament is a good thing as part of our preparation in the upcoming National Palaro competition,” said Fr. Manayon.

“With this exposure, the girls stored skills and performances were added for the better. I am hoping that we could make it up for the National Palaro,” Fr. Manayon added.

The Pajo squad is composed of Shakey’s Regional MVP Methosheena Bate, Athena Sucalit, Catherine Marquez, Mary Jane Cortes, Christy Sucalit, Lovely Marie Murillo, Marjorie Coloscos, Charlita Auza, Grethcel Soltones, Jella Jorquia, Jyrah Gae Aroma, and Suzette Panis.

They will represent Central Visayas in the volleyball event of the Palarong Pambansa from April 26 to May 2 in Tacloban City.

“We will just have a little break during the Holy Week and afterwhich, we will have our intense training everyday for the Palaro,” said Manayon.

Meanwhile, the formidable UST belles bagged this year’s title after fending off USLS–Bacolod in four sets, 18-25, 25-19, 25-19, 25-17. — Marigold P. Lebumfacil (THE FREEMAN)
