Roble Shipping nails fourth consecutive victory

CEBU, Philippines – Roble Shipping of George Uy deflated Power Ball, 94-85, at the start of the second round of elimination in the Sunriser/Powerball Friendship Cup 2009 basketball tournament at the CEC gym.

Leading by 10 points at halftime, 47-37, Roble Shipping struggled in the third canto, allowing the Power Ball to trim down the lead to just three, 68-71, entering the final period behind a sizzling rally ignited by Jimbo Noel and Lando Luces.

However, Teyoy Lim and Gary Maquelan spearheaded a furious assault to help Roble Shipping pull away in the closing minutes of the contest.

Lim coasted to a 27-point production, while Maquelan added 18 points. The other Roble cagers who finished in double figures were Tirso Aberia, John Carpio and Uy.

Noel paced Powerball with 24 point. Luces added 12 points as they fell to 1-3 .

In the other game, Unilink Shipping demolished the winless Vic Enterprises, 106-81. Unilink posted an 84-48 lead at the end of the third quarter on the way to a lopsided victory.

Alwen Tabasa had 24 points for Unilink, while skipper Paul Quiñanola chipped in 15 markers.

The winless Vic Enterprises was led by Erwin Budiongan with 33 points followed by Vic Ho with 14.
