Centennial Hardware, Roadstar/Castrol demolish foes in CECABA
CEBU, Philippines – Centennial Hardware ’95 and Roadstar/ Castrol ’96 pummeled separate foes in the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association’s 11th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup over the weekend at separate venues.
At the City Sports Club-Cebu gym, Class ’95 toyed with JRJ Enterprises/Semers 2007, 57-42, while Class ’96 shrugged off a lackluster start to gun down First ACY Shipping, 67-54, at the CEC gym.
Donald Anthony Ting pumped in 14 points, while Dean Dy Teves finished with 10 points and six rebounds as Class ’95 chalked up its eight win in 10 games. They got off to a strong 16-7 start and then closed the first half with a commanding 17-point advantage, 30-13.
Raymark Ryan Ong was the lone bright spot for Class 2007 with 20 points, three rebounds and two assists but his solitary effort went for naught as the youngest graduates slumped to 2-4.
Rushmarc Lariosa, on the other hand, fired 16 points and nine rebounds, Rex Alinson scored 15, while Gerald Chua added 11 points for Class ’96, which used a 16-5 rally in the second period to turn an early 14-16 deficit into a 30- 21 advantage at the break.
Class ’96 never looked back from thereon to post its sixth win against a single setback.Junwynn Dy had 21 points, nine rebounds, four assists and four steals for Class 2006. Nolsie John Cisneros added 18 points, four rebounds and four assists but they couldn’t prevent their team from languishing further down the cellar without victory in seven starts.
In the other game, Sammy Sia netted 25 points and 10 rebounds, while Peter Lo Dy and Richard Lanutan banged in 17 and 12 markers, respectively as Schick Razor ’84/92 massacred Cebu Diamond Auto Parts 2000, 84-59.
Class ’84/92 was never threatened after taking a 22-13 edge at the end of the first period. The lead grew as the game progressed until it snowballed into 25 points at the final buzzer.
Class ’84/92, thus, improved its win-loss mark to 2-5, while Class 2000 slipped to 3-5.
