First night supercross today in Consolacion

CEBU, Philippines - A night supercross will be staged for the first time in the history of motocross racing in Visayas and Mindanao via the third leg of the 3rd MS Motosuit Motocross Series starting today at a specialized racetrack in the municipality of Consolacion.

The two-day event will formally kick-off with a simple opening ceremony at 6 pm at the Government Center in Cansaga Bay, Consolacion. It will include a brief presentation of the 2008 Ms Motosuit Motocross Series and a fireworks display that will signal the start of the adrenaline-pumping competition.

The landmark Night Supercross Challenge will be participated in by top riders from all over the the country bannered by 11-time National Champion and 2003 FIM Asian champion Glenn Aguilar, who is an image model of MS Motosuit. Award-winning sportsman Lou Ornopia, the big boss of Ms Motosuit Motocross Series, said that this event is different from the regular motocross mainly because it will be held during night time. 

Extra powerful lights are now being installed at the racetrack with the help of Teddy Uy, a professional photographer who is the one designing the lighting system to make sure that all angles of the racetrack will be evenly lighted and help avoid any shadow that will hamper the motocross riders.

The first heat will be contested today, while the second heat will be done tomorrow as well as the awarding of the top performers in different categories.

“Dako kaayo ni nga event sa motocross racing dinhi sa Visayas ug Mindanao. Isip usa ka event organizer sa motocross, among dakong damgo nga makapahigayon gyod og lumba panahon sa kagabhi-on. Karon mahitabo na gyod ang maong pangandoy og nagpasalamat ko sa mga riders og sa mga sponsors nga way lubad nga nagsuporta sa Ms Motosuit Motocross Series,” added Ornopia.

The event is spearheaded by the municipality of Consolacion under the leadership of Mayor Avelino Gungob Sr. and councilor Arnulfo “Taboy” Abinales in partnership with Kier Louie’s Motosuit Manufacturing, Cebu Reliance Motor Parts, Castrol Power 1, Keiz BJ Motor Sales, RMO Motor Parts, Keiz BJ Motor Sales and Services, MS Digital Prints, Fork Oil Gaib USA, MS Unlimited, and MS Farms.

The Night Supercross Challenge and other MS Motosuit-sponsored races will be telecast in the MS Motocross TV via CCTN Channel 47 every Sunday from 9 to 9:30 pm. – THE FREEMAN
