Surban triumphant in ASEAN m'bike

CEBU, Philippines - Top Cebuano pedal-pusher Nino Surban finally got his long-sought revenge over 2007 SEA Games gold medalist Tawachai Masae as he topped the 1st ASEAN Mountainbike Championships in convincing fashion over the weekend in Brunei Darussalam.

Surban easily defeated Tawachai and the rest of the riders from Thailand, host Brunei, Malaysia, and Singapore in the one-day race sanctioned by the UCI

Surban had been looking forward to go up against Tawachai, the rider who deprived him of a golden finish in last year’s SEAG.

With two big accomplishments, Surban of Team Philippines under the leadership Mayor Abraham Tolentino is being groomed to take part in a World Cup event. – Caecent No-ot Magsumbol   (THE FREEMAN)
