Dewfoam '88 cruises to 5th straight win in CECABA

-

CEBU, Philippines – The rampaging Dewfoam ’88 stretched its winning streak to five games with a 62-41 demolition of Furst ACY Shipping 2006 in the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association’s 11th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup last Saturday at the CEC gym.

Man mountain Ricky Yu charted a season-best 19 points and Robert Lim added 16 markers as Class ’88 improved its win-loss record to 5-1. They trailed by a matchstick at the end of the first period, 15-16, but launched a devastating 20-5 assault in the third period to tear the game apart, 49-32.

Nolsie John Cisneros had 19 points and Junwynn Dy banged in 13 markers for Class 2006, which slipped to its third straight loss in as many starts.

In the other game, GCM Merchandise ’98-B chalked up its third win in four games at the expense of Schick Razor ’84/92, 57-51.

Virgilio Escoton, Jr. had 13 points, while Robinson Yap and Leovigildo Yu conspired for 23 markers for Class ’98-B, which took an eight-point advantage at halftime, 30-28.

Class ’84/92 fought back in the third period to pull within two points, 40-42, but Class ’98-B threw a powerful endgame punch to preserve the seven-point victory.

Star center Sammy Sia pumped in 27 points but his singular offensive outburst could not prevent Class ’84/92 from absorbing its third setback in four games.
