RJX Transport makes it 5-0 in CECABA
CEBU, Philippines - RJX Transport Solutions ’99 stormed to its fifth straight win in as many games courtesy of a 66-56 bashing of MFL Mini Mart ’98-A in the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association’s 11th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup on Tuesday night at the City Sports Club-Cebu Gym.
Mark Eugene Bukiron fired 16 points and Ruben Yap, Jr. added a dozen markers as Class ’99 unleashed a steady offensive in the final half to firm up its grip of the overall lead with an immaculate 5-0 record.
The RJX Transport-backed squad led by only a hairline at halftime, 31-30, but outpointed Class ’98-A in the remaining two quarters, 35-26, for the double-digit victory.
Santos paced Class ’98-A with 13 points followed by Rex Millan and Paul Timothy So with 12 points each.
In the other game, Roadstar/Castrol ’96 sustained its winning ways with a 73-59 rout of Centennial Hardware ’95. They never looked back after closing the first half with a commanding 17-point advantage, 40-23.
Five Castrol ’96 players submitted twin figures underscoring their balanced offensive. Franklin Neil Ong had 15 points followed by Dreyfuss Ang with 15. Arniel Frank Pelaez tossed in 12 points, while Rex Alinson and Rogelio Donayre chipped in 21 points combined.
Dean Dy Teves paced Class ’95 with 16 points, while Archie Gue added 15 in a losing cause.
