Surban rules in Singapore

CEBU, Philippines – Cebuanos Niño Surban and Marites Bitbit met contrasting fate in the Great Singapore Mountainbike Carnival 2009 at the Tampines Mountainbike Park in Singapore on Saturday night. Surban was declared as champion, while Bitbit was out of the top three cast in the women’s open.

Surban was named the night mountainbike marathon champion in a shortened race due to thunderstorms.

The race was supposed to be a 100-kilometer marathon, but was cut short to eight laps with 10 kilometers per lap due to the uncooperative weather. – Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (THE FREEMAN)
