1st CESAFI Partner's Cup v-ball starts

CEBU, Philippines - The first ever Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (CESAFI) Partner’s Cup volleyball tournament will fire off today at the University of San Carlos (USC)-Main gym.

In the opening game at 8 am, the Ave Maria Sanctuary Park-sponsored University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) will tackle Virginia Premium Corned Beef/Cebu Doctors’ University (CDU).

USJ-R of Cebu Sports Hall of Famer coach Grace Antigua will be fielding in rookies to further sharpen their skills preparatory for this year’s CESAFI season.

“I will be tapping my new players because this would serve as a good experience for them and at the same time I will know what improvements I’m going to make for the betterment of the team,” said Antigua.

In the other game, R. Lapid’s Chicharon/Southwestern University (SWU) will go up against Enervon C Multivitamins/University of Cebu (UC).

The Joreem Yu-coached SWU will be spearheaded by CESAFI beach volley champs, Danika Yolanda Gendrauli and Lorie May Layno.

Aerosol Lion Tigers/USC, on the other hand, will square off against Prime Asia Pawn and Jewelry Shop/University of the Visayas (UV) in the third game.

Later in the day, UV will take on USJ-R, while CESAFI women’s indoor volleyball champion CDO Idol Cheese Hotdog/ University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) will collide with UC.
