The Cebu teams

The Philippine Airlines Seniors Interclub Golf Tournament had its ceremonial tee off yesterday in Davao City and the action will start today yet.

There are four Cebu teams seeing action in the tournament – Alta Vista Golf and Country Club, Cebu Country Club, Mactan Island Golf Club, and the Mercedes Plantation Golf and Country Club.

I’ll have to do the coverage of the first three days of the competition with the help of my friends in the various teams and the media committee of PAL as I won’t be heading to Davao until Sunday.

The seniors’ team of Alta Vista is composed of – Boy Gonzalez, Ben Yu, Bobby Barria, Vince Colina, Roy Damole, Oscar Sanchez, Lino Dagus, and Lando Alberto.

Thanks to the very helpful and charming Jenny Lou of Cebu Country Club, who provided me with the list of their players for the seniors’ event – Anton Florendo, Lor Alaan, Victor Yuvallos, Clifford Celdran, Masatsugu Ochiai, Happy Hishida, Koichi Horii, and David Lu.

Mactan’s team will be led by Gen. Rodante Joya and the other players are Razy Razon, Pedrito Buenavista, Boy Alegre, Felix Villanueva, Vidal Hebe, Yoshio Yamane, and Bruce Walker. Pete Cantillas has been named as alternate for the team.

Ed Misa also gave me the list for the Mercedes team. He said they are only fielding players for the seniors’ division. It will be composed of Bugs Unchuan, Julius Neri, Sr., Aster Lagura, Ronee Kee, Nelson Modequillo, Tom Orchel, Mike Walek, and Hermes Tangaan.

Alta Vista, CCC, and Mactan will also be fielding teams for the men’s regular event along with Club Filipino Incorporada de Cebu.

AVGCC will be skippered by Vic Gocela and his team members are Enrico Solon, Gio Gandiongco, Edsel Tan, Gabriel Yap, Jr., Dennis Canoy, Alex Yeo, Emir Abutazil, Kim Kwang Seok, and Wendell Yap.

Montito Garcia will again be the captain of CCC, which seeks to regain lost glory. His team members are Carl Almario, Eric Deen, Jovi Neri, Marko Sarmiento, Bayani Garcia, Mark Dy, Joseph Stevens, Chuckie Hong, and Clifford Celdran.

Mactan’s men’s team will be manned by Kim Agatep, Chandram Rama, Andoy Mondares, Andrew Cañete, Hubert Calan, Jonathan Dionson, Roy Dadula, Ronnie Sarigumba, Jomar Nuñez, and Junjun Cabajar.

Club Filipino will be led by Boboy Durano, who will be joined by Evans Tumaliwan, Victor Yuvallos, Jiji Gullas, Alvin Alazas, Razy Razon, Ed Franco, Edwardson Chiu, Raymond Garcia, and Jae Kim Eun.

The competition will be held at the Apo Golf and Country Club and Rancho Palos Verdes.

As we have done for the last 15 years, we will be providing our readers a daily update of the competitions. The men’s event will tee off on Wednesday next week yet.
