CEBU, Philippines - Elmer “Boy” Cabahug, Kennerth “Captain Marbel” Duremdes, Al Solis, Bonel Balingit, Johnedel Cardel, Henry Fernandez, Peter Naron and Gilbert Demape.
These names headline the sports pages of yester years. Today, they will top bill the papers once again, as PBA Legends in Cordova, Mactan.
Cabahug and company will take on Pink Tower quintet led by Jargar Degamo, one of the pioneers of the Lapu-Lapu Chiefs, in the Inter-City Cup.
The Pink Tower team lists JJ Farr as its owner. She’s a publicist who formerly worked in London where she married a rich Englishman. She was the only Filipina to launch a biography of former President Fidel V. Ramos in London with the aide of then Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) Chairman Manoling Morato.
The basketball game is a joint promotion of JJ Farr and Balingit Productions.
In the press conference held yesterday at the 19th floor Board Room A of the Club Ultima’s Regency Tower, JJ Farr said they are going to promote games, music and other forms of entertainment in the other parts of the Visayas and Mindanao.
She said the group has chosen Cordova for her pilot project because her family is a friend of the Sitoy family specifically Mayor Adelino Sitoy of Cordova. (GGM) (THE FREEMAN)
