Limyutiong-Baluyot team tops 28th Coral Invitational

Cebu - Robert Limyutiong and partner Adonis Baluyot bagged the overall title of the 28th Coral Invitational, which closed yesterday at the Cebu Country Club. The tandem scored a total of 164 points on rounds of 80 and 84. Limyutiong carded 41 and 43 while Baluyot of Wack-Wack made 39 and 41 in the Modified Stableford Scoring System.

The overall lowest net went to the tandem of Jovi Neri and Andre Borromeo shooting rounds of 72 and 61 for a total of 133.

The title for the seniors’ division went to the long-time partnership of Wellington Lim and Danny Pizarro, who combined for 156 points on rounds of 69 and 87.

Second place overall went to the duo of Alberto ‘Frankie’ Bejar and Alejandro ‘Jun’ Dayot with 163 points on rounds of 80 and 83. Bejar made 40 and 43 while Dayot had identical rounds of 40 points.

Third place overall went to the tandem of Dr. Rodolfo Abalos, Jr. and Joel Ong with 159 edging Ruben Almendras and Leo Saberon in the countback.

Abalos made rounds of 44 and 43 while Ong added 32 and 40. Almendras and Saberon finished fourth scoring rounds of 42 and 40 and 42 and 35 respectively.

Fifth place overall went to Jacinto Limyutian and Kenneth Ngo, who had a spectacular second day performance. The team made 158 points on rounds of 71 and 87. 

Limyutian had 34 and 38 while Ngo shot 37 and 49 points.

In the seniors’ category, Lim carded rounds of 29 and 44 while Pizarro added 40 and 43 to claim the title.

Second place in the category for teams with total ages of 120 years and up went to the duo of Katashi Nagata and Constancio Uy with rounds of 72 and 82. 

At third was the team of Dr. Jun Larrazabal and Ed Enriquez also with 154 on rounds of 79 and 75.

Fourth place went to Julius Neri, Sr. and Stephen Cruz with 75 and 78 for a total of 153 edging Ed Misa and George Generalao in the countback.

The best score award for the first day went to the team of Benson Chua and Ed Parson with 82 points.

Ramon Escario and Owen Sanchez, who made 87 points, had the best score for the 2nd day.

In the seniors’ class, the best score for the day on the first round went to Ed Misa and George Generalao with 79 while for the second day it went to Danny Deen and George Neri with 81.

The individual lowest gross honors went to Carl Almario, who finished with 72 points on rounds of 33 and 39.

The individual lowest net award went to Benjie Hortelano with 84 points on rounds of 45 and 38. - THE FREEMAN
