David Lim dominates C.A.R.S. autocross showdown
CEBU - Cebuano David Lim lived up to expectations as the country’s fastest car racer as he came up with six titles and two runner-up finishes during the first leg of the Autocross Regional Championship Series that was part of the Cebu Auto and Racing Show (CARS) over the weekend at Park Mall in Mandaue reclamation area.
Lim, the heart and soul of DGL Motorsports Racing Squad, dominated the modified B and C, novice modified B, and the open B and C class. He also recorded the overall fastest time of 56.52 seconds.
Lim also got two second-place finish through the novice modified C won by Justin Neri and the all-wheel drive class topped by Randy Paray.
Lim could not be even happier when he saw his son, David Lim Jr., showing a lot of promise by winning the all-sports car title.
“It’s a good start to the year and hopefully, we can have more before the year ends,” said Lim.
Another Lim, Philip, also showed some might by ruling the novice stock A and B as Blake Go lorded it over in the modified novice A.
Justin Neri, aside from dominating the novice C action, also bagged the all-Euro class championship highlighted by second-fastest time of 57.64 seconds.
Louie Blanco completed the cast of winners by reigning supreme in the showbiz class with a time of 1.02:77.
The equally fascinating sound-off competition saw Jason Yap claiming a double victory via the unlimited three-way category and the three-way eight-woofer contest.
Ryan Yu was the best in the two-way category in the car show, while Erwin Go’s yellow Honda Jazz got him the best in show title spiced up with the best in engine detail and the best dressed trophies.
Joel Sandal won the three-way two-woofer system, Dyan Dy in the two-way two-woofer, John Moro in the two-way four-woofer, and Michael Albano in the three-way, four woofer.
In the car show, a yellow 1970 Ford Mustang was the best American car, best interior and best classic car, a Mazda RX-8 got the best Japanese car award, the Toyota FJ Cruiser got the best SUV award, while the classic Volkswagen Beetle owned by Byron Piramide won the best European car and best paint awards. – Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (THE FREEMAN)
