Rama to grace Cacoy Doce Pares 77th founding anniversary

CEBU - Acting Cebu City Mayor Michael L. Rama will be the guest of honor and inducting officer in today's induction ceremony of the officers of the Cacoy Doce Pares World Eskrima Federation who elected via status quo last December 30 at their headquarters along C. Padilla Street, this city.

 The simple rites also coincides with the 77th founding anniversary of the Doce Pares, which was founded in 1932.

The 89-year-old Grandmaster Ciriaco "Cacoy" Cañete stayed as president for the 20th straight year. He was first elected in 1989 to replace his deceased brother Eulogio "Yoling" Cañete, the first president-for-life of Doce Pares.

The rest of the officers last year also retained their respective posts. They are first vice president Atty. Amorito Cañete, second vice-president Dennis Cañete, secretary Atty. Bienvenido Jaban, treasurer Ben Gonzales, auditor Omar Paolo, and press relation officers (PROs) Gloria Cañete, Lucio Cañete, Bobby Inoferio of CCTN 47, Ramil Ayuman of ABS-CBN, operations director Chuck Cañete, and training director Jogn Mac.

The board members include sensie Max Tian, Noli Nacua, Bernadette Tormis, Sol Kalinga, Raul Bunalos, Levi Mejorado, Rolando Silao, Glenn Cañete, Dante Arcilla, Jr, Rey Fajardo, Melchor "Choy" dela Sala, Diony Tejadello, Felix Ybañez, Rafael Menoza, and Miguel Osmeña, son of Cebu City Mayor on-leave Tomas R. Osmeña.

The legal advisers are retired RTC Judge Epifanio Llanos and Atty. Vicente Fernadez II, while the spiritual advisers are Nonito "Dodong" Limchua, the president of INTV-CCTN Channel 47, Rev. Fr. Isaiah Gerali and Rev. Aloysius Alojipan. (GGM) (THE FREEMAN)
