Navy Blue zaps Violet in USC PTCA hoop
CEBU – Team Navy Blue led by Jess Gabatan notched its second win at the expense of Violet, 75-63, in the 8th USC-SC PTCA, Inc. basketball tournament at the USC-South Campus covered court.
Earlier, USC-North Campus Alumni won by default over the Maroon squad. However, Maroon, led by ex pro Lou Regidor, is still on top of the leaderboard with a clean 3-0 slate as the USC Alumni is only a guest team.
Former SWU Cobra Alvin Plaudin scattered 20 points and Roger Blanco added 18 markers as Navy Blue improved its win-loss record to 2-1. Gabatan, the PTCA executive board director, chipped in 12 points.
Jake Velayo, James Lu and Russell Rivera connived for 31 points, but their efforts went for naught as Violet crashed to its third straight defeat in as many games.
In the other game, the Jonel's Trucking-backed White squad escaped with a 90-86 victory over Green.
Mar Sala and Gilbert Gajudo scored 26 and 21 points, respectively, for White while the Green dribblers were led by Boboy "Pistol" Omaña with 33 points.
