Out-of-towners rule 1st Talisay run
CEBU – Spending Christmas here instead at their respective hometowns proved gratifying for Mindanao footracers Crifrankreadel Indapan and Mary Grace de los Santos as they reigned supreme in the 1st Talisay City Run yesterday.
Several out-of-town runners who joined a race in Danao City on Christmas eve decided to stay on and join the inaugural Talisay Run. It turned out to be a wise decision.
Indapan negotiated the 10-kilometer course in 32 minutes and 59.64 seconds to rule the men's open category. He was trailed by Mendez Lopez of Negros Oriental with the time of 33:42.76.
Another runner from Mindanao, Elmer Bartolo, came in third.
In the distaff side, Zamboanga’s Mary Grace de los Santos claimed her third straight victory here by dominating the women's division in 39 minutes and 28.42 seconds. Her closest pursuer was Madelyn Carter, who clocked in 40:36.58.
Lieszl Lumindas-Gitaruelas could only make it to third place. She is focusing on her training for an international long distance run next year.
On the other hand, Philip Duenas and Miscelle Gilbuena ruled the 5K action in their respective classes.
Duenas topped the men's bracket in 16:29.71 followed by Joel Delposo in 16:35.32 and Ian Bernido in 16:58.32.
Gilbuena topped the distaff side with the time of 20:43.55. Vlessica Jagna finished second in 21:18.69, while Haziel Ritavale settled for third in 22:14.82.
The 3K category was ruled by Maria Carmela Quijano. Dexter Secong wound up second, while Seigfred Cañete landed at a decent third place. – THE FREEMAN
