ACT, SCSIT rout foes in VAAA
Cebu’s Asian College of Technology (ACT) Cyber Knights shackled the Bohol Institute of Technology-International College (BIT-IC) Cruisers, 105-87, in the clash of opening day winners in the 3rd Visayas Amateur Athletic Association (VAAA) men’s basketball tournament at the Calape Sports Center in Calape, Bohol.
The Cyber Knights of coach Tata Merced, thus, zoomed to the solo lead in the eight-team field with an immaculate 2-0 record.
It was a close encounter at the start, but the Cyber Knightsripped the game apart using a fluid 22-11 rally in the second period to take a 54-40 advantage at halftime.
The Cyber Knights did not look back from there to pull off another one-sided demolition.
Earlier, the Salazar Colleges of Science and Institute of Technology (SCSIT) Skyblazers rebounded from their previous setback with a merciless 109-62 thrashing of the University of Bohol (UB).
So decisive the Skyblazers were that after they close the first half with a 40-28 edge, they staged another scoring rampage in the third period, 27-18, to blow the game wide open with a commanding 67-46 lead going into the final 10 minutes of the contest.
The Skyblazers further battered the hapless UB in the windup, 32-16, to wrap up the 47-point massacre.
