Cebu’s tennis princess Sally Mae Siso booked a pair of final tickets in the 2008 Langkawi International Age-Group Tennis Tournament at Complex Sukan in Langkawi, Malaysia.
Siso of the University of San Carlos-South Campus, whose trip to Malaysia is supported by businessman-sportsman Jonathan “Atan” L. Guardo and Dunlop, is actually the last Pinoy standing in the said event.
Siso found her first two assignments in the girls 14-under an easy one. She, however, had to deal with a different situation as she battles her doubles partner Amore de Villier of South Africa in the semifinals round.
The 14-year-old Siso pulled off a lopsided 6-0, 6-3 victory over De Villier to set up a title bout with a Korean player.
All seems well for Siso and De Villier afterall as they put their acts together to dump Malaysia’s Sharifah Syafeenaz, 5-7, 6-3, 6-3 in the doubles category.
This is Siso’s last participation in the Malaysian junior tennis circuit as she turns 15 next year already.
With that, she hopes to make a grand exit in her farewell tour. — Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (THE FREEMAN)
