CEBU - In a complete reversal of his performance during the past two legs, RP’s motocross king Glenn Aguilar came up with a championship and a runner-up trophy this time in different categories in the 14th and final leg of the 2008 MS Motosuit Motocross Series billed as “2nd City of Carcar Mayor’s Challenge” last Sunday at the Ramona’s Sports and Recreation Center in Carcar.
Aguilar, an MS Motosuit image model, took away the special pro race title that was denied of him by Irin Uypithing during the penultimate leg.
The experts class saw a repeat of the 12th leg, with Jon-Jon Adlawan overpowering Aguilar for the top post.
Uypitching couldn’t find his way up and just settled for third place honors in both classes.
Adlawan, however, floundered in his bid for a double title, with Paul Inoc and Winsor Pamorca posting a one-two finish in the intermediate open production where he placed only third.
True to his word, crowd-darling John Flores bounced back with vengeance, scoring a twinkill in the beginner’s and novice open production using his new Honda 250cc dirtbike.
Flores defeated Ayen Ledesma to top the beginner’s class that day Ryan Aquirol winding up third. The promising Cebuano rider proved too much to handle for Rey Barbaso and Keith Lagura in the novice open production.
Ledesma though did not go home empty-handed as he prevailed in the novice open enduro over Nikko Redulla and Donkey Sanchez, who finished second and third, respectively.
Like Ledesma, Sanchez managed to make good run in the other race as he ruled the local enduro over Bonnie Bustillo.
Siegfred Ornopia nailed another back-to-back victories in the executive A and B, while the animated race announcer Butch Flores lorded it over in the executive C.
Siegfred’s son, Brylle Ornopia, finally got the champion’s trophy deprived of him during the past two legs after he outsmarted BJ Pepito to dominate the pewee class.
Presented by MS Motosuit of noted businessman-sportsman Lou Ornopia, this year’s edition of the annual motocross series once again ended up with overwhelming success through the support of Imarflex Evvo Maintenance Free Motorcycle Battery, Castrol Power 1, Keiz BJ Motorsales, MS Unlimited, Cebu Reliance Motor Parts, Fork Oil Gaib U.S.A., and MS Digital Prints.
The Carcar leg, meanwhile, was organized by councilor William Racuma and Rudy Nadela with the approval of mayor Patrick Barcenas and the barangay officials of Liburon. (THE FREEMAN)
