GUV Cup city cluster semis cast already complete

CEBU - BOGO – The semifinal round cast in the City Cluster of the 4th Governor Gwen Garcia Unity Volleyball (GUV) Cup is now complete even if there are still three more games left here at the Don Celestino Martinez Sr. Sports and Cultural Complex.

The top two contenders are defending champion Lapu-Lapu and Talisay in bracket A, and Mandaue and Toledo in bracket B. They all sport a clean 2-0 records as of this writing yesterday.

Their placing in next month's semifinal action will be known only after the last game.

 Lapu-Lapu opened its title-retention bid with a 25-15, 25-16 thrashing of Naga. After geeting some good rest, Lapu-Lapu led by RP Team member Jusabelle Brillo logged an impressive 25-6, 25-8 triumph against Carcar.

 The equally-talented Talisay volleybelles snatched a pair of victories at the expense of Carcar, 25-14, 25-13 and Naga, 25-14, 25-9.

In bracket B, Mandaue posted a 25-13, 25-10 win over Bogo before clobbering Danao, 25-11, 25-12.

Toledo also registered back-to-back wins against Danao, 25-16, 25-17 and Bogo, 25-9, 25-16.

With the way things are going on amongst the four squads, the overall supremacy in the city cluster of the Cebu Volleyball Association (CEVA)-organized event is anybody's game. – Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (FREEMAN NEWS)
