CEBU – Cebuano bantamweight prospect Rodulfo “The Sting” Sumabong stakes his undefeated record against veteran Zamboangeño ring gladiator Daniel Diolan in the main attraction of tonight’s “Halad sa Kapistahan sa Birhen sa Regla” boxing extravaganza at the Lapu-Lapu City Sports Complex. Showtime promptly starts at 8 pm.
Sumabong is unscathed in six fights with half of his wins coming by way of knockout. He scored a smashing second round stoppage of Renan Branzuela in his previous ring appearance in a card graced by WBO bantamweight champion Gerry ‘Fearless’ Peñalosa last July 30 at the Liloan Sports Complex.
In what is expected to be the night’s show-grabber, the RWS Super 5 of Cebuano topnotch promoter and Manny Pacquiao confidant Rex “Wakee” Salud will take on separate foes. They are Jayson “Gladiator” Siaton, Dave Christian Baliguat, Rob “Gun” Montero, RJ “Sharp” Ano-os, and Renjie “Kilat” Abendan.
Siaton will go up against Renan Branzuela of Bukidnon, Baliguat, will tangle with Saddam Alin, Montero will slug it out with Romano Gelig of Bohol, Ano-os will square off against Ramelo Estra, and Abendan will battle Jerpol Valero.
The preliminary bouts feature Esrael Salud against Roberto Tobio and Kevin de la Cruz opposite Samuel Salinato.
Tickets are priced at P50 for general admission and P100 for ringside. — Emmanuel B.Villaruel (THE FREEMAN)
