Umapad cage league attracts record field

CEBU - The Umapad Basketball League (UBL) Inter-Sitio Basketball Tournament opened the other day with a record field of 60 teams vying for top honors in three categories at the Brgy. Umapad open court in Mandaue City.

The league is a project of Umapad Brgy. Capt. Zaldy S. Lumapas in preparation for their barangay fiesta on December 8 in honor of their beloved patroness Immaculate Concepcion. Umapad is the homeplace of ex-pro Gilbert Demape.

Lumapas said the participating teams are divided into three categories namely midget, junior and seniors open, which has also a separate division for 40-above cagers.

The entries, some of them joining in all three categories, are the LPC, Lemon, Wisdom, IRP, Froilan, San Jose, San Roque, Sta. Cruz, Birhen sa Regla, All Star Central, Cardinals, Sacred Heart, Archers, Keymart, Spurs, Survivors, Punishers, Lemary, Milwaukee, Bambam, SVF, JDT, Alaiza and Kalubihan. (GGM)  (The freeman)
