Cebu dance athletes top DSCPI's year-ending tilt
CEBU - Dancesport-Team Cebu City sealed its bid in the three-phase DanceSport Council of the Philippines Incorporated tournament with the overall crown in the 12th DSCPI National Dancesport Championships the other night at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
The graceful dance athletes from Cebu may have carted away only nine gold, nine silver and eight bronze medals but it was enough for them to dominate the finale of this year’s series.
Edward Hayco, dancesport director of the Cebu City Sports Commission (CCSC), said DTCC got 40 percent of the total golds at stake in the event. The rest of the 11 golds were distributed to different teams all over the country.
Ronnie Cabahug and Charlea Lagaras led Cebu’s charge after duplicating their golden performance during the mid-ranking tilt in grade A latin category.
Dearlie Gerodias, who competed with a new partner in Reiner Mercado for unknown reasons, came up with a bronze behind Lagaras and Cabahug.
The tandem of Bernie Tumarong and Miljane Camacho also came up with a bronze in the standard grade A.
On the other hand, Wilbert Aunzo and Pearl Marie Cañeda contributed two golds for DTCC via the junior A latin and standard. Ditto with Romeo Cialbo and Hanna Jane Diluvio in the latin and standard grade D.
Virgiani Oyao and Jefferson Pimentel, who decided to line up with DTCC anew, pitched in gold in the latin youth A.
The other three golds of DTCC came from Samson Orlanes and Mae Pabuaya in the standard youth C, Mark Joseph Fernandez and Barbie Caryl Vallente in the latin discipline, and Rhea and Roque Marquez in the junior C latin event.
Anselmo Estillore and Eleanor Hayco came up with a silver in the special event 2F latin. Estillore and Mae Lozada likewise clinched a silver in the grade B action.
Hayco got another silver through the standard SE 2 together with Lloyd Bartolini, while Ricca Alix, along with long-time dance partner Renante Saldua, wound up with a silver in the senior A standard.
The other Cebuano silver medallists were James Bryan Camacho and Christine Camacho in the juvenile latin and standard, Jason Deluvio and Kathlene Deluvio in the junior C standard, EO Lowen Rendon and Marie Desiree Seraga in the youth A latin and Inoue Roi Rendon and Christy Kim Velez in the youth A standard.
EO Lowen Rendon and Seraga added a bronze in the youth A standard, while the other bronze medal contributors were Jessa Mae Briones and Jeric Canoy (junior C standard), Jumil Bacalso and Daine Xylene Balili (youth A latin), Jimmy Noel and Radha Zabala (SE 1 F) and Christopher Corro and Karla Fornolles (standard grade B and SE 1F). - BANAT NEWS
