Former WBO champ headlines Bohol boxing
CEBU – Former WBO Asia Pacific interim bantamweight champion, Robert Allanic of the fabled ALA Gym will headline the third episode of the Summit Natural Drinking Water “Fight Night” boxing tour when he collides with bull-strong Carlo Magale of Talibon, Bohol on November 15 at the Mandaue City Plaza.
It was only but a year ago that the former titleholder stunned the boxing circle when he bludgeoned hometown favorite Chang Jae-Kwon of Korea to capture the Asian Regional title in Uiyungbo City, South Korea and successfully defended it with an astounding stoppage of Insuk Song at the Cebu Waterfront Hotel and Casino in July of last year.
A near tragic motorcycle accident however sidelined the power-punching Allanic and a one-year lay-off caused him to lose his first comeback fight against the unheralded Leonardo Doronia of Manila a few months back.
“It will be different this time. I am now fully recovered from my injury and I am back in my fighting weight,” reveals Allanic, a protégé of sportsman Cliff Smart who promised to redeem himself in this make or break encounter with the highly-rated Boholano.
Magale, the RP No. 5 rated contender on the other hand is not about ready to accommodate the ALA stalwart and in fact, has promised to retire the comebacking Allanic for good.
The Allanic-Magale explosive encounter will be supported by another fistic thriller when light-flyweight top contender Along Denoy trade mitts with Jason Geda in the latter’s tune-up fight before challenging Rodel Mayol for the title.
Two fast rising prospects Bon Jovi Canillas and Roli Gasca who is the former ABS/CBN “Idol” champion will spice up the double main-event card against separate opponents.
The undefeated Gasca is pitted against the veteran Orlan Enriquez who counts a win over Robert Allanic while the iron-fisted Bonjovi Canillas will trade blows with Robert Awetin of Jagna, Bohol in a battle of two KO artists.
A special attraction will feature a Japanese invader Hideyasu Takahashi of Kobe, Japan (6-3-1) who will test the mettle of undefeated, six-footer Joel “Yao Ming” Zaspa of Bantayan Island, Cebu.
A total of 48 exciting rounds of boxing will usher in another “Free –to the – Public” presentation of Summit Natural Drinking Water “Fight Night” boxing tour organized by ALA Promotions. (PR) (THE FREEMAN)
