Jessie's dream

FULL POINT - Nimrod NL Quiones -

CEBU - I’ve met many people who have talked to me about their dreams and their passion for sports and I have also met some who have turned such things into reality.

In a couple of weeks, we’re going to see one of such dreams become a reality, but my friend, who I first met back in 1983 when he was a freshman in high school and I was a junior, asked me not to spill all the beans yet.

But yesterday afternoon while we had coffee, Jessie Bernad showed a lot of passion for what he is doing.

The guy is so much into batted sports that in the several instances that we have bumped into each other since July during the centennial festivities of our alma mater the University of the Philippines, he has been talking about baseball and softball.

We played against each other since high school and then later during our college days at UP and after that, there seems to be no more opportunity for us to swat balls or even play catch.

Jessie is offering us a solution that can allow former players and those who are interested to play ball (baseball or softball) of all ages.

He’ll have an official announcement out soon, but it seems the idea that he is broaching seems very interesting.

In fact, I think it is excellent and I am sure those guys who we played softball with back in our high school and college days would also agree.

Let’s just keep posted and get ourselves ready for some action very soon.

The poll for the dream foursome is still on. Those who’d like to share their dream can send email to [email protected] or send me a text message.

I’d like to get more people to join before coming out with the results.

My friends organizing the Charity Fun Golf Tournament have been in touch lately reminding me to keep November 21 free for the tournament at the Cebu Country Club.

The Charity Fun Golf is now on its eighth year and has been giving away over a million pesos to various charitable organizations the past few years, which proves how it has grown bigger.

Entry fee for the event is pegged at P3,500 and you can sign up at the Cebu Country Club.

A Volvo C-30 is at stake for a hole-in-one on all par-3 holes. You don’t only feel good in this tournament being able to do a little deed for charity, but you can also enjoy the company of friends and win prizes on the side in the competition and in the raffles.

See you on the 21st.

There will be seven courses of fire, according to Navy Lt SG Proscoro Ervin “Bruce’ Mundo and the entry fee is P1,200 except for juniors, military personnel, law enforcers and range officers, who will be assessed P600 only.
