Brillo, partner falter in opening assignment
CEBU - It’s a bad start for the Pinay volleybelles including Cebuana Jussabelle Brillo as they lost in their first game in the 1st Asian Beach Games yesterday in Bali, Indonesia.
Unlike fellow Cebuano Junrey Sasing’s victorious debut in the international scene, Brillo and Bautista who is playing for Team B of the Philippines bowed to host country Indonesia’s Kapasiang and Ni Putu in straight sets, 21-17,21-16.
Brillo and Bautista is currently ranked third in group B, with Thailand and Indonesia occupying the first two seats.
Like Brillo and Bautista, Michelle Carolino and Roces faltered in their opening assignment as well.
Carolino and Roces succumbed to Kazakstan’s Alenkina and Tsimbalova, 21-11, 21-11.
In the medal standing, RP is currently ranked sixth with a bronze in the 1,000m event of the dragon boat race.
