CEBU - The F. Llamas Youth Association (FYA) Warriors played with poise under pressure to pull off a crucial 75-71 victory over the upset-seeking FYA Golden Eye to advance into the finals of the 1st Coach Rady Cup basketball tournament at the Don Vicente Sotto Memorial gym in Brgy. Punta Princesa, this city.
In the opener, the FYA Lakers drowned the FYA Viking Haulers, 90-76, to even their win-loss records at 2-3.
With a 4-1 win-loss card, the Warriors gained outright final berth. They will face either the
Golden Eye or the Viking Haulers in the championship round.
Daniel Enriquez and Chrissar Llegunas both finished with 17 points for the Warriors. Their offensive explosion was very timely as Dondon Cadungog was held off to 11 points.
Golden Eye, which is gunning for a final slot via backdoor, was led by Rovel Tabar with 18 points followed by Janus Abellana with 16.
Earlier, Wendell Rollon and Carl Rama combined for 47 points to spearhead the Lakers’ furious assault that was never contained by the Viking Haulers. Former USJ-R Jaguar Giovanni Canceko chipped in 15 points for the Lakers.
Adrian Laborte hauled 26 points for Viking followed by Baeng Medalle with 16 and Junrey Arreglo with 13.
The FYA 1st Rady Cup is supported by Punta Princesa Brgy. Captain Rolly Diorico and councilman Boogie Atillo.
