CESAFI football tournament resumes

CEBU - Defending champion Don Bosco Technological Center and the University of Southern Philippines Foundation hope to duplicate their winning formula last week when they face separate opponents in the secondary division of the 2008 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Incorporated(CESAFI) football tournament today at the USC-Technological Center in Talamban, this city.

DBTC will tackle the University of San Jose-Recoletos, while Don Bosco will go up against USC-North Campus.

USC will have to be extra careful especially Paolo Zamora, who was slapped with a yellow card last week. Another yellow card for him means a one-game suspension.

“Players who were handed out yellow cards in the first game better be careful in the second game tomorrow (today). If they still receive another yellow card, they will serve a one-game suspension and can’t play in their third game,” said CESAFI football director Jonathan “Maxi” Maximo.

In the collegiate level, defending champion USJ-R guns for its first win after fighting to a draw with the University of the Visayas. The Kicking Jaguars will face tournament leader USPF.

UV, for its part, will take on UC, while the debuting Cebu Doctors’ University will battle USC.

Last week, five players from UV were slapped with yellow cards in Junard Aguilar, Jomar Labastida, Julius Acre, Melvin Lauron and Frederick Alazas, while USC had two in Melvin Elle and Kyle Soriano. – Caecent No-ot Magsumbol . (THE FREEMAN)
