Boljoon tops cluster 2A in GUV Cup volleyball

CEBU - Team Boljoon is back on the right track after grabbing the cluster 2A title of the 4th Governor Gwen Garcia Unity Volleyball Cup For Women yesterday in Samboan.

Boljoon, which failed to advance in the cluster finals last year, bounced back with an immaculate 5-0 record in the two-day battle.

Boljoon nailed three wins in the first day, the last was against Santander,25-13,25-21.

Boljoon then conquered last year’s cluster 2A top team Oslob, 25-14, 25-21, before closing its campaign by whipping Ginatilan yesterday, 25-9, 25-17 against Ginatilan.

Boljoon lost one of its star players Michelle Matuguina for unknown reasons, but found a new gem in Rossel Gernani.

Malabuyoc settled for second with a 4-1 win-loss record followed by Oslob with a 3-2 card.

Both Oslob and Santander scored only one win each in five games, while host Samboan got zilch.

The Cebu Volleyball Association (CEVA)-organized event shifts to Moalboal for the cluster 2B action that will be followed by the cluster 2 championship on October 12.—Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (THE FREEMAN)
