Ben Yu wins title in seniors' golfest

CEBU – Ben Yu of Alta Vista topped the 2008 third Quarter Senior Fellowship Golf Tournament at the Mactan island Golf Club last week.

Yu fired the lowest gross of the tournament with his six-over-par 78 on nines of 42 and 36.

Nido Lao of the host club topped the Young Seniors class with a net score of 65 strokes off a gross 79. Retired Gen. Celestino Nievo Rodriguez of the Pamplona Plantation Golf and Country Club took the first runner-up honors with 66 strokes followed by Hermes Tanga-an of MIGC at third with 68.

Vicente Reyes of Leyte Golf and Country Club won the title for the Mature Seniors division scoring a net 69 off a gross 91. First runner-up was Edgar Gica of MIGC with 70 strokes and at third was Rolly Villegas of Mercedes Plantation Golf and Country Club with 71.

Florentino Lleva of MIGC topped the Super Seniors class with a net score of 73. Second place went to John Uy of Alta Vista with a net 74 while third place was shared by Tony Tankaw of Cebu Country Club and Jolly Bollozos of MIGC with 76 apiece.

Che-che Burlas topped the guest division with her net score of 66 strokes. Runner-up honors went to Virgie Lou Hwang with 69 strokes.
