Minglanilla 2-0 in Cluster I battle

CEBU - Defending Cluster I champion Minglanilla leads the battle with a 2-0 card at the start of Cluster I matches of the 4th Governor Gwen Garcia Unity Volleyball Cup For Women at their own turf yesterday.

 Minglanilla opened with a convincing 25-8, 25-11 win against Alcoy. After some hours of rest, Minglanilla prevailed over Dalaguete 25-15, 25-13.

 Alcoy, whom Minglanilla defeated in the first game, bounced back in the afternoon at the expense of Argao, winning in three thrilling sets 25-23, 23-25, 25-20, for a 1-1 card.

 San Fernando and Dalaguete won their first assignments later. San Fernando defeated Argao 25-23, 25-18 and Dalaguete won over last year’s runner-up Sibonga, 25-19, 25-21, 25-23.

 There were three more matches going on as of presstime yesterday. Today, the Cluster 1 teams will play in seven more matches in this Cebu Volleyball Association (CEVA)-organized event.

Minglanilla hopes to sweep all matches today as it plays San Fernando and Sibonga in the morning and afternoon games, respectively. - THE FREEMAN
