The secret

CEBU - To all those who sent text messages; left messages on Friendster, Facebook, and Multiply; sent email; and called me up since last Saturday, thank you for all your greetings.

It feels good to know that you have lots of friends and family who care. Thank you again.

I’d like to share with you my secret of looking young. It is not really participating in sports or maintaining a trim figure. I’m now 39 years old and the secret is my wife. Yes, she never fails to pull out the white hair that have sprouted on my head.

So much for that, I really appreciate all the greetings and from the bottom of my heart, thank you!

My birthday would have been perfect had the De la Salle Green Archers beat the Ateneo Blue Eagles last Sunday.

Unfortunately those who said that the Blue Eagles are the team to beat were really right.

I haven’t written off La Salle though and I am hopeful that tomorrow, the Green Archers can forge a rubbermatch.

Nothing is impossible. Well also for Ateneo, but I am not hoping for that.

On my way back to Cebu yesterday, I got a call from John Pages, our president in the Sportswriters Association of Cebu (SAC) that we still have a few slots remaining for this Saturday’s sports quiz that is sponsored by Hapee Toothpaste and Richmedia at the Ayala Center Cebu.

This event is open only to high school students and I have been tasked to buy the prizes that would be given away.

The Asus EEE PC for the champion is now with me and I am getting the two cellular phones for the second and third placers. Philips Go Gear will be given to the fourth and fifth placers.

All the contestants would be getting giveaways from Hapee Toothpaste and the audience will also get a chance to win gift packs and Hapee basketballs if they can answer the questions that would be thrown to the public.

We hope to see all of you there on Saturday afternoon. The event starts at 1 o’clock and would run until 3 p.m.

MILESTONES: There are many September birthday celebrants and I’d like to greet some friends and family, who turned a year older the past few days.

Belated happy birthday to my godson and judo champion Vicente ‘Nonoy’ Fernandez III, who also turned a year older last Sunday.

Belated greetings also to my classmate Engr. Neil M. Aguilar, who turned a year older last Monday. 

Yesterday my good friend Guido Armas and Anne B. Sy, a classmate of my wife from USC-GHS also turned a year older.
